Accuracy Measurement signal does not depend on the web position between heads and therefore accuracy is maintained at all times. Measurement signal depends on the distance to the web. Most solutions touch the web. Fluctuations in the web tension influence the measurement accuracy.
Function online Cleaned every hour by air blast to avoid dirt build-up. Dirt build-up if heads touch the web.
Measurement principle Same as with single sided. Same as with double sided.
Cost/price More expensive to manufacture. Pay-back of the investment, however, is much faster because of greater accuracy (even quality, less waste). Less expensive to manufacture. Pay-back of the investment depends greatly on the accuracy of the system. Investment decision should not be based on the initial investment cost (price) but on the overall profitability of the investment.
Standardization Checked every hour automatically. Cannot be checked automatically.
