QCS for Laminated products

With laminates we mean any process where a support fabric or paper is being coated with plastics or other materials. This process can be calender- or spread coated and have just one stage or resulting into a multilayered material. We have been working with Scantarp, Saab Barracuda, Kiiltoplast and Walkivisa in controlling various plastic coating processes.

The Scienta Concept has been developed to fit the online sensors into the tight spaces of excisting coating lines. We can work in cramped places, hot environments and in very dirty processes. The scanners are low maintenance devices, which have been developed to work with a minimum of maintenance over many years. See Scienta Concept for more details.

A number of different sensors are available for plastic extruded film. We can measure pure PP or PES film with a non-nuclear NIR (near-infrared-light) sensor with excellent accuracy. Coloured and mix-material sheets are measured using traditional Ion Chamber technology using natural radioactive sources.

Controlling a multistage coating process is easy using the Fieldbus connected scanners. Setting up a multi-scanner system does not take long as the normal commissioning time is 3 days. We use tools and software that might already be familiar to the factory maintenance personnel, which further speeds up the learning curve for our customers.
