Paper Technology - features of Scienta online QCS
The Scienta Concept has been developed over the past 30 years to fulfill a number of requirements specifically sought by the Paper and Paperboard industries. We started out in the 70’s with a revolutionary idea of using Field buses to improve the communication between the different parts of a QCS system. Now this is mainstream technology, but Scienta is already offering its 9th generation!
The heart of our QCS concept is the reliance on Field Bus technology coupled with modular sensor heads (all using the latest 32-bit processor technology) and a very sturdy and reliable scanner construction. Our scanner head platform has 10 wheels each to ensure a smooth travel across the sheet!
To really accommodate our customers we offer to integrate the QCS into their excisting DCS platforms. We have done projects involving the use of Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Alcont and other DCS systems. This ensures that the customer will have better control of the new system and can even maintain it himself.
Companies like UPM-Kymmene (Haindl), Papierfabrik Rieger (Germany), Iggesund Paperboard (Sweden), Filtros Anoia (Spain) and Board&Pack (Russia) have relied on us to give them something different from what is offered by the big players on the market. We hope to fit a need for affordable, reliable and smart QCS systems.
Scienta offers a range of standard sensors (Basis weight, Moisture, Ash content, Gloss and Caliper) with scanners supporting sheet widths of up to 6000 mm in a compact, easy to install system. We even design the HMI pages with the software the customers are used to. And everything is connected using industry standard Field Buses.
